Asprey silver-gilt travelling or picnic tea set

Asprey silver-gilt travelling or picnic tea set

Sold

Rare and complete silver-gilt tea set complete with original porcelain teacups and saucers, all fitted in the original leather travelling case. This charming Edwardian picnic set is quite unusual in that nearly all of those produced by Asprey were made in silver plate, and this set is gilded solid silver.

The tea set comprises a teapot, water kettle, milk bottle, milk jug, tea caddy with the burner fitted into the base, and a sugar bowl. Two teaspoons, a pair of sugar tongs, the folding stand for the kettle all fit neatly on the doors of the case, along with a vesta case to hold and strike the matches.

Note the original woven wicker covered swing handles on the teapot and kettle.

The delightful lemon glazed cups and saucers are made by Coalport.
