This is a superb-quality antique Japanese silver tea and coffee service made by master silversmith Watanabe Zo around 1900, during the Meiji period.

The eight-piece silver tea and coffee set comprises a silver tea tray for carrying fine porcelain cups and saucers, a kettle on the stand to replenish the tea and coffee pots, a coffee pot, a teapot, tea caddy, milk jug, sugar basin and sugar tongs.

Every piece is made in a double-skin construction to keep the tea hot and milk cool. The outer surfaces of the bodies are profusely decorated with meticulously chased figures of dragons set against a background of swirling, roiling waves.

The spouts and handles are designed and beautifully executed as dragon heads and tails, showing the creatures' horns, frills, and spikes about their heads. The tray handles mirror the dragon motifs, featuring realistic overlapping dragon scales and fins, adding to the overall metallic lustre or shimmer.

In all our years in business, we have never seen a Japanese silver tea and coffee service of this quality.

This Japanese silver tea set and tray is not available to purchase online. Please contact us if you would like more information or are interested to buy it.
