This large four-piece antique silver tea and coffee set is a fine example of Victorian silversmithing and has all the marks of superior quality. Each piece is hand-chased in high relief with exuberant sections of floral work scrolls and foliage set against a mottled ground. This decoration is set within gothic-style arches, and the decorations extend to the teapot and coffee pot's covers, incorporating scrolls, flowers and foliage, plus beaded starbursts all set against the mottled ground.

The handles on each piece have intricate scroll and leaf shapes and decorations, as well as graduated beaded mounts. The teapot and coffee pot have removable bellflower-shaped cast finials. The swan neck spouts feature similar decorations to the covers, and all pieces are mounted on cast spreading leaf and scroll supports. The interiors of the milk jug and sugar bowl are gilded.

The silver teapot pours perfect and its capacity of two imperial pints equates to seven or eight cups of tea.

Note: Under the rules of the UK government's Ivory Act 2018, this silver tea and coffee service qualifies for an ivory exemption certificate.  If required, the ivory parts may be replicated and replaced with an ivory substitute at no additional cost.
