Set of six mid-century silver napkin rings
9300
Crisp and clean set of six mid-century silver napkin rings, hand engraved with a bark effect finish in a design trend made famous by Gerald Benney that went on to become a totemic silverware design motif of the 1960s. Each napkin ring is marked with the glis glis edible dormouse that he adopted and became his trademark.
Brian Leslie Fuller joined Gerald Benney in 1966 where he worked as general manager until starting his own studio in 1975 in Clerkenwell.
The Mid-Century Modern movement evolved after the end of World War II, largely influenced by Scandinavian design. It was a period of creativity in silver design, styles and design cues that were characterised by simplicity and natural shapes that continued until the late 1970s.
