Antique Old English Thread silver basting spoon
Antique Old English Thread silver basting spoon
3634
Edwardian hand-forged sterling silver basting spoon or serving spoon in the Old English Thread pattern, engraved with a family crest depicting an ostrich in a crown holding a horseshoe.
This Old English variant was first made in the 1760s but became popular in the mid 1780s. The reverse is threaded and it makes a lovely variation to the Old English pattern. Spoons can be made with nibs front or back. Its classic simplicity makes Old English Thread a consistently popular choice.
