Wonderful antique silver and cut glass silver dish,
The scallop-shaped glass is cut in a manner that resembles rock crystal. The silver cast and open-work surround depicts a profusion of flowers, lattice and scrolls, along with dolphins and a Bacchus mask.
The scrolling cast handle is adorned with the figure of a sea nymph holding a trident, surmounting a scallop shell, and surrounded by overlapping foliage.
The dish is mounted on three cast, open-work supports in the form of
scrolling foliage, each with a lizard climbing over it.
This dish would make a fine centrepiece, with or without fruit and grapes.
