Stylish and versatile American Art Deco silver drinks or canapé tray with a crisp pierced gallery border and stylised cast handles. There is a plain rectangular cartouche on one long side of the frame and the silver frame is mounted on bun-shaped supports.
Making it adaptable, this silver cocktail tray is fitted with two alternative glass bases; one plain and one cut with a central hand-cut starburst decoration. Including handles, the tray is 448mm (17¾") long.
Art Deco was a popular design style in the 1920s and '30s characterised especially by sleek geometric or stylised forms. It represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.
