Early Victorian 3-piece silver tea set

Early Victorian 3-piece silver tea set

Sold

A rare and fine, antique, three-piece silver tea set of compressed circular form. We consider this tea set rare because we have not seen this particular design before. The decorations are finely hand chased and incorporate acanthus leaf scrolls and stylised shellwork. The teapot's hand-chased and domed cover is surmounted by a detachable acorn and oak leaf finial.

Each piece rests on four cast scrolled leaf pattern supports flanked by flowerheads and the silver teapot has insulators so that the handle does not get hot. The interiors of the sugar bowl and milk jug are gilded.

Dimensions shown are for the tea pot.
