George II style silver bullet teapot

Wonderful quality silver bullet style teapot with a band of hand-chased decoration around the lid in the George II manner. Made by Lionel Alfred Crichton, a silversmith specialising in fine quality copies of old master silversmiths' work, the body of this teapot was hand raised from sheet silver and one can still see the hammered finish inside that is indicative of this work. The lid has an almost invisible flush hinge - a sign of top quality. It has the capacity for about six cups of tea.

This silver teapot bears a crest of a cockerel with the motto Commit Thy Work to God for the Sinclair family of Fairmead, Cambridgshire.
