Beautiful, cast and entirely hand-pierced and chased, sterling silver-gilt cream or milk jug made in the mid 19th century. The crisply pierced decoration depicts exotic birds perched in trees, and the rim features an applied grape and vine mount. A scroll cartouche sits beneath the spout. The foot also features raised, hand-chased grape and vine patterns set against a mottled background.
This charming gilded jug is fitted with its original handmade frosted glass liner. The liner is not attached but is quite secure and will not slide out unless shaken.
The jug is perfect for serving milk or cream at tea, or any other sauces or coulis at the dining table.
