A rare antique silver tri-form folding biscuit box. the cast frame is decorated with leaf forms and has sliding mechanisms that allow each of the three shell shaped biscuit holders to be lowered and raised. The frame is surmounted by an open-work handle is the form scrolls. There is a cast leaf and flower pattern hinged 'handle' on each shell. The interior is gilded and has hinged open-work partitions that are sprung loaded. Although there were many folding biscuits boxes made, very few indeed were of solid silver, nearly all were silver plated.
