George III silver nutmeg grater

A Georgian silver nutmeg grater, oval in form with bands of brightcut engraving and a central cartouche with monogram. The lid opens to reveal the original steel grater and the base has a flush-hinged opening to allow storage of the nutmeg.

It was made in 1789 by Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson of London and is hallmarked on the lid, body and base.
