Rare & exceptional silver cannon inkstand

Rare & exceptional silver cannon inkstand

Sold

A rare and exceptional antique silver inkstand incorporating a silver model field gun. The gun is a copy of a Napoleonic period cannon and since the silver inkstand was made in 1915 it was possibly made to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. The shells mounted on either side of the wooden base are for holding the ink and there is a pen-rest incorporated into the silver ground-effect base on which the model sits. Its rarity and excellent craftsmanship would make this silver cannon inkstand an excellent presentation piece.
