Pair Corinthian column silver candlesticks

Sold

Pair of unfilled silver candlesticks in the classic Corinthian style with square stepped beaded bases and fluted columns. The capitals feature an upright palmate and are decorated with rosettes between each of eight acanthus leaves. The beaded sconces are removable to make cleaning easier.

The Corinthian column is almost always fluted and is the most ornate, slender and sleek of the three Greek architectural orders; the other two being Ionic and Doric. Corinthian are distinguished by a decorative, bell-shaped capital with volutes, two rows of acanthus leaves and an elaborate cornice.
