Langfords is proud to have been creating silver centrepieces and wardroom silverware for the Royal Navy for more than 40 years.

In a tradition that has been passed down the centuries, The Royal Navy commissions a silver centrepiece to be designed and created to commemorate the launch of a new ship, vessel or submarine.

The centrepiece usually takes the form of an image taken from the ship's crest. Royal Navy ships are named after a predecessor, and often in alphabetical order. In this case, both officers and enlisted personnel were asked for their input, and the resulting centrepiece was brought to life from sketches provided by members of the crew. The design is a departure from the original concept; the ship's crest is a crown set in the waves.
