An antique whiskey noggin or individual whiskey server with hand-blown glass body of oval form, and cut with a starburst decoration in the base. The jug is fitted with a silver flip cover, collar and tumbpiece.

Traditionally considered to be of Scottish origin, the whiskey noggin is used for serving individual portions of whiskey and usually holds a gill - a measurement equivalent to a quarter of a pint and sufficient to have a soporific effect on the drinker!
For that reason, the noggin was often called a "go to bed", or "chota peg" in Anglo-Indian colonial speak.
