Paul de Lamerie style Victorian silver porringer
7169
In the style of Paul de Lamerie, this is a beautifully crafted antique silver porringer or feeding bowl constructed with cast and applied strapwork panels around the lower half of the body and an applied moulded girdle around the body. The silver bowl sits on a flared circular base.
Paul de Lamerie (1688-1751) was the greatest silversmith working in England in the 18th century and his richly decorated designs, with characteristic rococo motifs - bold scrollwork, flowers and shells, were frequently replicated in the Victorian era.
