Langfords' heavy quality models are cast in sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. Each model is then individually hand chased to produce the lifelike features seen in the finished bird.
Whether on a local city pond or out in the countryside, mallard ducks are the most common and recognisable wild ducks in the Northern Hemisphere and this is a lovely, small and finely cast silver mallard drake.
