Large silver trophy cup & cover on plinth

£ 16,500

Silversmith
Place

London

Year

1905

This impressive silver trophy cup was made by Sebastien Garrard in the George II style after a design by Paul de Lamerie. It is exceptionally heavy and has cast and applied strapwork decoration to the body and lid, with hand-chased detail around the base.

It is extremely well proportioned and should it be required as a sporting presentation it comes with its original wooden plinth with silver plaques to receive annual winners' names. The top half of the cup itself is plain and can be engraved with a name or inscription on either side.

The height shown is for the cup and cover itself; the plinth adds 180mm (70mm) giving an overall height of 690mm (27")
