Exquisite Victorian Aesthetic movement silver-gilt christening set comprising a square napkin ring plus a fork and spoon, beautifully hand engraved with naturalistic figures in oriental settings inspired by nature, flora and fauna. It's a sign of superior quality of quality that all sides of each piece are flawlessly hand engraved with a variety of oriental scenes and motifs: willow, cherry and cloud trees, pagodas, carp and a man sailing a junk.

The dimensions given are for the napkin ring and the fork and spoon are 7" (175mm) long. The weight is the total for all three pieces.

The Aesthetic movement was a late 19th century ideal that art should be created for art's sake and designed for purely visual pleasure. For silver there have to be practical considerations since the objects are often functional, but the decoration tends to have a free will and beauty often with contradicting themes.
