Antique silver travelling communion set

Antique silver travelling communion set

Sold

This Victorian silver travelling communion set comprises a wine flagon, chalice and paten. The base of the chalice reflects the scalloped design in the centre of the paten. Each piece is engraved with the traditional IHS Christogram and the lid of the silver wine or water flagon is surmounted by a patty (pattee) cross.

A popular ordination gift, travelling communion sets like this one were essential equipment for ordained missionaries on the move, army and hospital chaplains, as well as those not travelling so far from home.

Every priest or vicar should have one!
