Modern silver & gold-plated pot pourri bowl

Modern silver & gold-plated pot pourri bowl

Sold

Unique, handmade silver potpourri bowl, with hand pierced and part-gilded cover with engraving depicting leaves, thorns and branches of a tree. The bowl is hand hammered and is inset with three cabochon feet supporting the bowl.

The piece was made by silversmith and specialist engraver, Angus McFadyen. After he graduated from the Manchester Polytechnic, he started his own jewellery business but very shortly, he shifted his creative focus to making larger silver pieces. The larger and flatter surface gives him the freedom to reproduce pencil drawings on silver and make beautiful delicate pieces that look good whilst sitting still on your cupboard.

Unlike the other vessels he made, he wanted his pot pourri bowl to look good even though there was no flowers in it, so he pierced out the design and made the foliage three-dimensional with the vines weaving the leaves as it occurs in nature. The leaves, vines, and thorns were then realistically engraved.
