Pair of rare Arts & Crafts silver faux rivet candlesticks

Pair of antique Arts & Crafts style silver candlesticks with strap and rivet decorations and an unusual form that is quite rare.

This angular, almost industrial form, that became popular at the beginning of the 20th century, features straps and rivets, and was pioneered by Lee & Wigfull, the makers of this particular pair of candlesticks, and who drew inspiration from an original design by Jan Eisenloeffe of Amsterdam.

Later, James Dixon & Sons brought out a similar design, that were produced in larger quantities.

There is a pair of candlesticks in a similar design in the collection of the Victoria & Albert museum in London.
