Edwardian Kings Husk silver grape shears
3230
Heavy pair of antique sterling silver grape scissors in the King's Husk pattern. These well-proportioned beautifully designed grape scissors are a joy to use and are part of the delicious ritual around grape eating. They would probably have been made as part of an extensive set of King's Husk cutlery, a variant of the ever popular King's pattern, first produced in the Regency era (1811-1820) and still made today.
Grape scissors were first created in Regency England but it wasn't until the Victorian period that they really took off, when they were used during the dessert course at dinner. It was only after the grapes had been correctly cut, that it was permissible for the diner to use his or her fingers to put them in their mouth!
