In superb condition, this is a fine pair of George II heavy-gauge cast silver candlesticks with shaped square bases and wells, with knopped stems. They were made by the famous Huguenot silversmith Augustine Courtauld, noted for producing particularly high-quality cast candlesticks during this period.

Unlike earlier candlesticks made from lighter sheet silver, George II candlesticks were cast from a heavier gauge of solid silver, and whose construction made them more durable and gives them a substantial weight.
