Superb quality George III period large silver salver with finely detailed cast openwork borders decorated with Bacchanalian masks, scroll work, grapes and vines. This large silver salver is supported on four scrolling feet, embellished with vines and grapes. The surface of the tray is elaborately hand-chased with exotic creatures, masks, foliage and floral work, lattice sections and all set against a mottled ground.

In the centre is the coat of arms and motto of Westenra, Baron Rossmore, a family descended from Warner Westenra who settled in Ireland from Holland during the brief reign of King Charles II circa 1650.
