Early Victorian silver entrée dishes on warming stands
5152
A fine pair of Victorian silver entrée dishes, square melon form, on original Old Sheffield Plate warming bases. The domed lids have removable cast leaf and scroll handles, with leaf and shell handles to the serving dishes.
The hot water warming stands have removable tops and retain the original tinned finish inside.
Each dish is engraved with the marital arms of the Poley and Hallifax families and undoubtedly commemorate the marriage of John George Weller Poley and Diana, youngest daughter of Thomas Hallifax. They were married on 28 October 1847. The armorials are supported by a genealogical & heraldic verification.
