Made to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the first airplane flight in 1903, this wonderful scale model of the pioneering Wright Flyer, or Kitty Hawk as it was also known, is made in sterling silver and features exceptional levels of detail. The pilot, Orville, and some of the structure has been gilded. The silver biplane features full, three dimensional detail of the wing ribs, struts and rigging, as well as the engine and scale figures of Orville, and Wilbur waving him on.
Mounted on a solid wood base with a protective perspex cover, the biplane was made in the USA and bears import hallmarks for London, 1977 which includes the Queen Elizabeth II silver jubilee commemorative hallmark.
