Silver model dachshund begging

Did you know that your loveable family pet dachshund was bred to scent, chase and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature dachshund was bred to hunt smaller prey such as rabbits.

Our silver model dachshund, begging on its hind legs, is cast in heavy gauge sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. Each of our models is then individually hand chased to produce the lifelike effect seen in the finished piece.
