Art Nouveau silver rose bowl

Art Nouveau silver rose bowl

Sold

Fine example of an Art Nouveau style rose bowl incorporating typical organic forms so reminiscent of the period. The bowl is made from a substantial gauge of silver, is mounted on three curving leaf supports and there is a detachable mesh to support flowers. The lovely curving tendrils that form the three handles feature rivet fixings.

Art Nouveau was an ornamental style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910 throughout Europe and the United States. The distinguishing ornamental characteristics are its long undulating asymmetrical line, often taking the form of flower stalks and buds, vine tendrils, insect wings, and other delicate and sinuous natural objects.
