A fine George III silver basting or serving spoon in the frequently sough Fiddle Thread & Shell pattern and made by the royal silversmith Paul Storr.

Fiddle Thread & Shell is a charming design with the fiddle shape, thread borders and shell motif, while on the reverse shells appear on head and heel. Dating from about 1810 this pattern gained popularity in Colonial America and is one of the most popular Fiddle pattern variants.
