Excellent quality, hand-forged antique sterling silver cutlery service made in the classic Fiddle & Thread pattern, by Francis Higgins of London. Handmade in a particularly heavy gauge of silver and double-struck - meaning that the pattern is created on both sides of the pieces - this is a silver cutlery set of superior quality that shows little or no signs of wear.

Fiddle & Thread is a classic design that first appeared in the early part of the 19th century and given its elegant simplicity it sits well in both a traditional table setting or a modern one.

This fine cutlery set comprises:

12 table forks
12 dessert forks
12 tablespoons
12 dessert spoons
12 teaspoons
12 table knives
12 dessert knives

Original antique knives rarely survive. This 12 place setting set includes the finest hard-soldered silver knives in the complementary Old English Thread pattern, made by Garrard & Co in London 1961. With stainless steel blades, the knives are dishwasher-safe.

George Adams was a renowned and highly esteemed silversmith, specialising in producing high quality flatware. Francis Higgins & Son absorbed George Adams' business at the end of the 19th century after it had been previously sold to Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater.
