Silver tobacco box with traditional Dutch scene of a yacht at a rural inlet with a windmill on one side and a grazing cow on the other. This box is made of 833 standard silver.

Hallmarking and date marking items of silver began in the Netherlands around 1503 but there was no standardised procedure in place and each town had its own scheme for this practice.  After 1814 two Dutch national hallmarking standards were established and operated - 93.4% silver and 83.3% silver.

The English import mark is for 1930
