Very good quality antique mid-Victorian entirely silver wine jug based on a Roman amphora design and is decorated around the neck with a hand-engraved garland of olives and leaves. The cast handle features olive branch motifs while the laurel wreath finial completes the Roman theme. The silver flip lid has a beautifully made flush hinge, a sign of superior quality.
