Lovely handmade decorative silver tea tray with an abundant border of hand-chased chrysanthemum flowers and foliage and a hand-engraved surface surrounding the central panel. The floral decoration reflects the four primary decorative elements that appear throughout Chinese decorative arts - the chrysanthemum, prunus, orchid and bamboo. They represent the four seasons - where chrysanthemum embodies autumn - and are also known as the Four Noble Ones or The Four Gentlemen. This silver tray weighs 36.62 troy oz (1139g) and rests on four supports.

Hung Chong & Co was a prominent Chinese silversmith and retailer, based in Shanghai and operating between 1830 and 1925 making high quality silverware which was often richly decorated with floral motifs made with repoussé relief detailing.
