A rare, naturalistic, Arts & Crafts style silver three-piece tea set with hand raised bodies and applied decorations. The teapot handle is wrapped with interwoven wicker to insulate it.
The handmade and natural look of the set personifies the concepts set down by the Arts & Crafts movement that had emerged from a disenchantment with the impersonal, mechanised direction of society in the 19th century and advocated a return to a simpler, more fulfilling way of living. The movement was admired for its use of high quality materials and for its emphasis on utility in design.
