A rarity - this antique revolving breakfast dish is made in solid silver. The simple lid and base is nicely set off by cast legs formed as splaying ears of corn and it has two removable hallmarked liners.

These dishes were made for serving hot food at breakfast and would sit on a sideboard for self-service by the diners. Hot water in the base of the dish keeps the food warm, with the food sitting on an open work plate that allows it to drain, and a solid plate separates the two so that steam does not affect the food.

Almost always made in silver plate, this unusual example was made in sterling silver and is fully hallmarked on each separate piece.
