An unusual Norwegian sterling silver pepper pot in the form of a chess piece king with gold plated detail. The figure is that of the Eternal King of Norway, Saint Olav - King Olav II Haraldsson - who reigned from 1015 to 1030.
Novelty and figural pepper pots were very popular from the 19th century,and because there is such a wide variety of subjects, they are highly collectable. They have proved to be a good investment too.
