Excellent round, late-Victorian, sterling silver butter dish featuring a domed and pierced lid surmounted by a finely detailed cast model of a reclining cow. The base is a similarly crisply pierced frame fitted with ring handles and cast cow-head mounts. The rim features an applied bead mount around the base and an egg & dart mount around the rim. The butter dish frame is mounted on four cast scroll and claw pattern supports.
A removable round frosted glass liner holds the butter and can be kept in the fridge until serving.
