This beautiful pair of round, 19th century silver-gilt stands and dishes was made by Stephen Smith in 1886. Crafted in sterling silver and featuring the original gold plating, they feature finely cast and hand-chased classical scenes running around the borders. Lions are entwined with grape vines and Bacchanalian masks which suggests they might be specifically for presenting grapes. Each stand has two cast vine pattern handles and is mounted on cast lion's paws with acanthus leaf and floral details above.

This is a wonderful, heavy quality pair of silver-gilt fruit stands, made with exceptionally fine detail and in superb condition. The removable glass liners are bespoke replacements.
