One date & maker 4-prong Rattail silver cutlery set
London
1898
Now commonly referred to as Rattail, this cutlery pattern was based on the Hanoverian pattern - perhaps the most important flatware pattern of the 18th century. It was the early 18th century addition of a pronounced rat tail shape on the back of the spoon bowl and the rib on the front that was an important design development of the Rib Rattail pattern.
This classic set is easily incorporated into a traditional or modern setting and comprises:
12 table forks
12 tablespoons (2 x Wm Hutton, London 1895)
12 dessert forks
12 dessert spoons
Accompanied by 12 pairs of heavy-gauge, hard-soldered, Plain Pistol table knives and dessert knives made by C J Vander, London 1984.
