Silver model of a Vickers F Gunbus, the world's first operational fighter aircraft. Made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths in London 1916.

This exceptional model of a Vickers Fighter FB5, known as the Gunbus, was commissioned as a gift to the works manager of Vickers Brooklands at this time, Percy Maxwell Muller. The airplane
is mounted on its original ebonised presentation plinth featuring a silver plaque.

A letter of authenticity and provenance from Mr Maxwell Muller's grandson, Ian Maxwell Muller, stating his previous ownership as well as his grandfather's involvement in 1919 with the first transatlantic flight, and his award of an MBE in 1918 for services to the war effort. He retired in 1936.


Dimensions include the wood plinth. The model is 305mm long x 126mm tall (12" x 5")
