Swimming silver mallard drake model

This is a nicely detailed sterling silver model of a dabbling mallard drake. Whether living in an urban environment or in the country, we have a fondness for the mallard, or wild duck. This medium-size silver mallard drake is carefully cast in a pose where he is serenely floating on the water.

Langfords' heavy quality models are cast in sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. Each model is then individually hand chased to produce the lifelike effect seen in the finished piece.
