Silver model greyhound

Silver model greyhound

Sold

This silver model shows off the physical features of the greyhound: the coat is very short and smooth, the body is lean and muscular, his back is arched back and the chest is deep. This silver dog's head is narrow and his ears are folded. It is believed greyhounds were introduced to the British Isles in the 5th and 6th century BC from Celtic Europe, primarily for hunting and coursing in the open where their keen eyesight was valuable.

Like all Langfords' models, this silver greyhound model is cast in heavy-gauge sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. Each model is then individually hand-chased to produce the lifelike effect seen in the finished piece.

For a truly personal model, we can work from photographs to capture the true likeness of your own pet or favourite animal cast in sterling silver. Contact us for more details.
