Heavy gauge cast sterling silver grouse hen, hand engraved to give a realistic effect.

Regarded as the "king" of game birds, red grouse are native to Britain and can fly at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. The red grouse is Scotland's national game bird, was the former mascot of the Scottish rugby team and is the emblem of the The Famous Grouse Scotch whisky, first produced by Matthew Gloag & Son in 1896,

This new silver grouse hen is cast in sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. Each model is then individually hand chased to produce the lifelike effect seen in the finished piece.

For a truly personal model, we can work from photographs to capture the true likeness of your own pet or favourite animal cast in sterling silver. Contact us for more details.
