George II style silver bullet teapot

£ 1,250

Silversmith
Place

London

Year

1934

Wonderful quality silver bullet style teapot with a band of hand-chased decoration around the lid in the George II manner. The body of this teapot was hand raised from sheet silver and one can still see the hammered finish inside that is indicative of this work. The lid has an almost invisible flush hinge - a sign of quality. The pot bears a crest of a cockerel with the motto Commit thy work to God for the Sinclair family of Fairmead, Cambridgshire. It will hold about six cups of tea.
