Magnificent pair of cast antique silver candlesticks by master silversmiths Wakelin & Taylor. These late-18th-century candlesticks were made at the peak of the neoclassical era and display all the classical design motifs associated with it. Elegant tapering stems are feature other classical decorations such as honeysuckle and laurel leaves. What makes these silver candlesticks exceptional is the fine detail on all sections, including the leaf work, the swirling flutes, lily pads beneath the candleholders and the wonderful quality woven twisted rope mounts.

Cast candlesticks are solid silver, not filled and the nozzles are removable for easy cleaning.

Neoclassicism is the 18th and 19th century movement that developed in Europe as a reaction to the excesses of Baroque and Rococo styles that were dominant in the previous era. The movement sought to return to the classical beauty and magnificence of the Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire.
