An unusually good four-handled Scottish sterling silver mether cup from the Arts & Crafts period of quadrangular shape and resting on four curved stepped flying buttress style handles. The square rim or lip is crimped while the square, shaped silver body tapers to a narrower rounded base.
A mether is a communal friendship drinking vessel from the Celtic tradition. In very good original condition, and with what could be a modernist look, this piece would also be suitable as a very stylish vase.
