Fine quality antique silver vase centrepiece fitted with three removable swinging baskets suspended from three scrolling arms. The hexagonal bodies of the vase and dishes have fanned scroll pierced decorations and elegant wavy rims. An épergne is an ornamental centrepiece for a dining table, typically used for holding fruit or flowers - this piece is both versatile as well as decorative.

Originating in France and traditionally made in silver, an épergne generally has a large central bowl or basket sitting on three to five feet. From this central bowl radiate branches supporting small baskets, dishes, or candleholders. There may be between two and seven branches and host a variety of foods, flowers or candles.
