Pair Art Nouveau silver photograph frames

This lovely and unusual pair of antique silver photograph frames have cushioned fronts that are delicately embossed with flowerhead details. Pairs of photographs are unusual and this is a particularly pretty example. This pair of Art Nouveau silver frames have their original leather backs and will each hold a picture of 140mm x 95mm (5½" x 3¾").
The Art Nouveau style was often inspired by natural forms such as the sinuous curves of plants and flowers; a sense of dynamism and movement. One major objective of art nouveau was to break down the traditional distinction between fine arts and applied arts, so it was widely used in interior design, jewellery and metal work. In Britain, it was influenced by William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement.
